Reuse is necessary
The byproducts of the fishes processed at Netuno´s Paulo Afonso industry, in Bahia, are processed into fishmeal and fish oil for use as animal feed. Another part of the skin is donated to an association of craftsmen in the state of Alagoas, where the artistic vision gives life to different kinds of handcrafted products. The initiative has generated social development and preserved the environment.
Collaborate with science generates development
To collaborate with research related to the use of solid waste, Netuno has signed a technical cooperation agreement with the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). With this initiative, we expect to direct the production waste to a nobler destiny. The paths may be recycling or processing the material into organic fertilizer. The work has been developed by researchers at the Institute of Technology of Pernambuco (ITEP)
Biodiesel to improve the air we breathe
In partnership with ITEP and research projects for exploitation of fish oil in biodiesel production are being developed. Another initiative in the same area, it refers to the production of diesel oil from microalgae. With the implementation of these innovative ideas, the fleet of vehicles from Neptune will use environmentally friendly fuels. This will reduce the emission of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, providing also a cleaner air.
Environmental awareness starts in each of us
For the development of sustainable activities, Netuno has the Environmental Compliance Committee, formed with professionals from different areas of the company. Members suggest activities to be implemented in its internal work environment, but that benefit the general public also. Among the actions taken are the establishment of waste collection receptacles in the Tilapia and Shrimp farms, as well as lectures on the importance of sustainability and environmental preservation.

The Mother and Child Institute of Pernambuco (IMIP), has issued a stamp of Enterprise Development to Netuno. The recognition is due to the support provided by the IMIP, a work of assistance to the low-income population of Pernambuco. In the state, only IMIP is authorized to issue the stamp.
